Cupcake Burgers in Five Easy Steps

So I hear you want to learn how to make cupcake burgers, hmmm?

(Cupcake burgers are cupcakes that look like mini burgers... not burgers that look like cupcakes)

Well here's how you do it!

Step 1:

Make vanilla cupcakes.

Step 2:

Put brownie mix into the cupcake trays (with paper). These will create little brown discs that will function as your "patties."

Can't go wrong with Betty Crocker. Well... you can... if you don't do exactly what she says on the box. So do what the woman says.

Step 3:

Make red and yellow icing by putting food dye into two separate bowls of white icing.

Step 4:

Cut up little squares of green fruit roll up. This is optional. You can just use green icing instead if for some weird reason you don't like fruit roll ups, even though they are magical.

Step 5:

Assemble the burger cupcakes! Cut your vanilla cupcakes in half, spread red (or yellow) on the top of the bottom half for the ketchup (or mustard). Then put the brownie patty on top, followed by the yellow (or red) icing. Then comes the green fruit roll up square for your lettuce, topped all off with the top "bun." You can put in a fancy toothpick as well to add to the burger illusion.

Now if you want to get fancy with this, you can go ahead. Some people put white cupcake crumbs on top to make it look like it has sesame seeds, and I've also seen people who have laid out green icing all fancily to make it look like real lettuce. It's all a matter of how much work you want to put into it.

This could be a possible outcome if you have extreme experience designing baked goods.

As for my adventures with making cupcake burgers... let's just say it involved a bake sale requiring two hundred cupcakes and an entire day's worth of baking and listening to reggae music. Not going to lie, I twitch a little bit every time a Bob Marley song comes on.

Nevertheless, cupcake burger making in moderation is a blast, and certainly delicious!

So Much Goldfish Love

Not going to lie, I've been in a weird sort of funk. Every time I go to write a post, it turns out horribly and I delete it... so here's to the zillionth try!

In this post, I'd like to talk about why I love my friends.

First off... they're awesome. They are always there when I need them, and they never fail to make me smile. I'll admit, it takes me a little while to warm up to people and truly release the inner Gfish. So to those who stuck around long enough to meet every side of me, and who accepted even the weird and the ugly... I thank you with every inch of my being.

I've assembled a little photo montage of some great memories with the greatest of people (for the sake of anonymity, I've kept everything as vague as possible):

Food drivin' with AL at the supermarket. Best twenty hours of sitting ever.

Assembling a love child bean bag chair with J.

Baking cupcakes with AK. So. Much. Baking.

More cupcakes with AL. and J. What was the total again? Two-hundred?

Traveling to Maine with AK. Ogling the baby alpacas.

Face painting with AL and J. Discovering tattoo artist potential.

J similarly discovers tattoo artist potential on my arm. I wore this to school after, even though it was painted on a Saturday. Super difficult showering without wiping it off, but so worth it.

Camping out in my backyard with AK, AL, and J. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect group.

So I know I'm getting a bit soppy in this post, but I don't care. The week after the next all four of us are heading to Disney world for our Senior trip, and it's going to be a BLAST. I can't help but remember all the sleepovers and adventures and hysterical laughter that pretty much made my life worth living.

Of course, those three aren't the only friends that I am forever feeling proud to know. No, everyday I find myself more and more amazed by the people around me. Whether it's a joke to the side or a small little compliment, I'd just like to say that everything my friends do truly means the world to me.

To give a shout-out to those of you who pretty much inspired me to come back and post this sop-fest...

RACHEL. YOU ARE THE BOMB.

Rachel made me this cupcake out of nowhere, and it was the most fantastic thing in the world. Not only that, but she had no idea of my internet obsession with goldfish... so... that was just a giant, awesome coincidence.

AND KEREN. I LOVE YOU AS WELL.

It's a mustache trident. Need I say more? Btw, Keren, this is going on my wall. Forever.

So yeah... I'm back.
